What is the Financial Advisor role?

The Financial Advisor’s job is to conduct needs assessments of customers resulting in either product sales or referrals to more specialized sales personnel. The Financial Advisor must be highly familiar with all retail banking products, including personal credit and mortgage lending, small business products and lending, personal and business bank accounts, and registered products. They must also be fully familiar with in-house systems, transaction processing, teller functions, and mutual fund investments and transactions. The typical career path leading to the Financial Advisor job is to have spent some time as a Financial Services Representative.

  • Participating in marketing and sales-related business development
  • Building productive relationships with other team members
  • Apply risk and due diligence policies, practices and procedures when extending credit, lending money or dealing with delinquent accounts

  • Training others, such as Financial Services Representatives
